During the '70s Robert Byron Wright was employed as an independent writer and producer by Maurice White and his Kalimba Productions. At this time he co-wrote songs for The Emotions and Deniece Williams and also wrote and produced all the albums of The Pockets together with Verdine White of Earth Wind & Fire. In 1980 he joined RCA as an in-house R&B producer, becoming vice-president of A&R in 1983. Here he wrote and/or produced for Glenn Jones (hit: "I Am Somebody"), The Jones Girls, Fonzi Thornton, Pleasure and Genobia Jeter, among many others. In 1985 he wrote and produced the R&B hits "Fall Down" and "In The Morning Time" for Tramaine Hawkins, after which he developed cancer and died in 1987. The late Robert B. Wright was married to Lecei (Elisecia Watkins) Wright - Class of 1971, and their marriage blessed them with two beautiful daughters.
